ABOUT THE FILM

Monti is a short film written and directed by Keisha Martin, during her undergraduate career at BGSU. The film is a dark comedy about a waitress who finds herself in a strange situation one night after work. Plagued with a dead body, new found supernatural powers, and no where to go, Monti turns back to her estranged friend for help. They tackle murder, acceptance, and friendship as they reconnect once again.

A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR

My style of film making encompasses multiple aspects of my life, stemming from childhood until now. As I reflect back on my memories, experiences and personal beliefs, they embellish and influence my films. Some of these influences include humorous explorations of incidents that have complicated my life in the past, but with an added, darker twist. Other moments from my life appear in my work as thematic undertones that explore subjects that are difficult for me to show as an artist but which I feel compelled to show nonetheless. What I hope to achieve within my films is telling a story that will leave the viewers feeling an emotional connection either to the characters presented or the themes explored. I wish to do this through my own unique approach to film. I strive to utilize my passion for art and design, incorporating it into the films I make by paying close attention to the production design and overall aesthetic of the film. Applying my keen eye for design to my creations is what informs my directing style, as well as brings the intended vision of my art to life.

Monti is a passion project that I have been working on for almost a year now. Not only is it a story that I want to tell, but it is a story that I want to share with the world, as I find its dark humor something that many people can connect with.
